Rose Adventure Home

This house is for the nature lover who enjoys all forms of art and sharing this knowledge with others. It was built with a self-styled Mother Nature in mind, a fairy godmother to the children in the neighborhood who teaches them skills they may not be able to learn at home. This person wants to bring nature into their home and be reminded of it in every room. However, true fairies don't despoil the horizon with tall buildings, so the living space of the house is a hobbit hole (sans round door).

The ground floor is a garden containing environment-friendly items. As a form of quick travel, there is a well that transports you to the furthest room. (This only works as an exit from the house for NPCs.) To preserve the harmony and secrecy of the home, the stairs can be unhidden with a floor switch and rehidden with a pullable torch. This occurs at both the top and bottom of the stairs so that you can get back out!

Each floor is decorated with a different theme. The first basement is Summer Sunshine and evokes feelings of a sunny day with a lovely breeze. The second basement is Fairy Forest. Sleep under the leaves so that you feel as if you were outside. The bottom floor is Starry Night Studio where the homeowner can practice her skill and give lessons to guests. I haven't added an inventing bench, but that would be a possible expansion. Here is the portal that our garden well connects to.

Btw, I tested the house with a visitor since there is no real door and I wanted to make sure it worked properly. The visitor was not able to walk down the stairs without being invited in by the homeowner, who walked up the stairs to greet them. They miraculously seem to know when there's a visitor on their lot even without a doorbell.

The Garden of Akademos - Nectary & Food Vendors, No CC

Lot size: 30x30
Received 1st Place in Whisperingtruth's Romantic Community Lot Contest.

This grove of olive trees is the perfect place to spend the afternoon or entertain your date. Classically decorated, the Erechtheion-inspired edifice contains food & nectar vendors, a cozy sitting area around the fireplace and a portico dedicated to art. Outside seating allows diners to enjoy the small waterfall. The grove contains sevaral paths to romantic spots.

Additional Note:  I made this lot in January 2011 when I was still new to contests.  If I'd know about placing friezes as the time, I would have added one to this building.  Feel free to throw one on... it would be perfect for it!

Cheyenne Youngblood - No CC, Female YA

Cheyenne thought life was tough enough raising her younger brother Charlie on her own after they ran away from the orphanage to avoid being separated. They settled into a frugal but pleasant life knowing that, while they didn't have much, they had eachother and their freedom. When Charlie's closest friends lost their parents in a bizarre meteor accident, Cheyenne didn't want them to go through the uncertainty she and her brother had known, so she invited them into her home as family. When she heard of a local modeling opportunity, Cheyenne jumped at the chance to bring in some extra money for her family that had just doubled in size. While she's not the most graceful or brave of sims, she is determined to succeed for the sake of her family and the hope of moving them to a house with room for everyone. She hopes you like these amateur shots!

Hachimenreirou Toudai - a Japanese Lighthouse

From the Serenity Point news bulletin:

In the mid-1800s, the Japanese government hired a European firm to build lighthouses to make the waters around Japan safe for shipping.  The lighthouses built near the end of the 19th century were European in design while the lighthouses built in Japan before this contract tended to be traditional Japanese architecture and smaller.

Needing a lighthouse for our growing community, the Serenity Point town government has decided to pay homage to the traditional Japanese lighthouse with the unveiling of Hachimenreirou Toudai (Serenity Lighthouse).  This lighthouse has been constructed on Asian Cliff overlooking the main town.  A traditional-style yet updated home has been constructed with it so that the lighthouse keeper may live in comfort and stay rested and focused on this important job.  As a lot that will be open to tourists and a showcase to visitors, the home is larger than others in Serenity Point with room for entertaining guests and completing needed repairs.

While intended to honor the asian members of our community, delight all townspeople and to teach visitors about the history lighthouses and of Serenity Point, this lighthouse will still be fully functional and will protect both the town and passing ships by keeping us all a safe distance apart.

Special Features:
- The lighthouse beam effect in the top floor of the lighthouse is enabled and disabled by a floor switch that is supposed to look like the sim is bending down to pull the lever next to it.
- The top floor also has emergency flares (fireworks) and a telescope for viewing distant ships.
- All sinks (home and lighthouse) have been upgraded to self-cleaning and the tv in the home is unbreakable.
- The living room in the house is sunken.
- The lighthouse has its own bathroom and bedroom as well as various activities for both the lighthouse keeper and tourists.
- There is also an area outside the home intended for repairing lighthouse gadgets.  It has an inventing bench.

The design for Hachimenreirou Toudai was based on the old Shirasu Lighthouse and on Tomonoura Port.

If anyone would like to read about the project to build lighthouses in Japan, here's the link to the wiki page on Richard Brunton.  Until I found a page that linked to this information, I wondered why old and new Japanese lighthouses were so incredibly different in design and decoration.

Pressed Fairies Painting Collection by Brian Froud

This painting collection (one object) was made for EMPRESSPAMELA.  I'm really happy with the way this one came out.  All of these were painted by Brian Froud and I think all or most of them were in Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book by Terry Jones.

Makeda - Queen of Sheba - Wall Art

This painting and wall hanging was made for Blacksheba1973.  The wall hanging is pretty neat as it uses part of a stencil that is in EA's original version of the wall hanging but is not enabled... so you can't actually have it in game even though the stencil is there for it!  If anyone wants the original, just let me know and I'll create a version that has this hidden stencil enabled.

Wolf Moon T-Shirts - YA/A Male

I seem to be neglecting the men in my creations, and since that's always annoyed me about the Sims 3 Store, I'm going to try to avoid doing it too often.  I don't think I'm ready to tackle one-design-for-all-ages though.  *laughs*
